Effy is a treasured friend and colleague who is a master at diving deep, sitting in her emotional fire, facing up to what is needed and meeting herself (including all her raw parts) on the page. I admire and adore Effy for being bravely authentic, courageously vulnerable and excellent at guiding others through creative processes and projects that help them work through their own feelings, trauma and blocks.

I have taken many classes from a lot of wonderful teachers. Effy Wild is my favorite. Her classes are clear, entertaining and I learn something new each time. Effy is a very supportive person and has created a group of people who support and encourage their fellow artists. I have grown so much from being part of her circle, not only as an artist but as a person. Her classes are innovative and fresh. As she changes as an artist so do her classes.

The classes I’ve taken with Effy Wild are treasures. I am an intermediate level art journaler, but I continue with Effy year after year not only because her work in her art journal inspires my work in mine, but also for the careful tending she does to keep our community supportive, nurturing and creative. I feel seen and heard by her every time I post and that encouragement is extremely uplifting. Her teaching methods are spot on if you want to dig deep into yourself and heal. The techniques allow you use art as therapy, and that is an incredible gift she gives. I am honored to be in classes with her.

I’ve been a journaller of one kind or another for 45 years. Effy’s approach is endlessly encouraging, and keeps me honest. Plus, I learn great new art techniques! Her courses are excellent value for the cost. www.catcharissage.com

I have been taking Effy’s classes for several years now (BOD, Facing Forward, Mixed Tape, Radiant, etc.). She is a great teacher and I am never disappointed. Her generosity and supportive attitude bring me back again and again. Although I am not a big participant in the Facebook groups she sets up for each class, every time I do visit i am in awe of the wonderful supportive spaces she has managed to create. On a purely monetary level, her classes are never overpriced and I’ve always gotten way more than I paid for – Effy is incredibly generous with her time and effort.

Effy Wild is my first mixed media-art journal teacher, and I can’t thank her enough for what she has done for me. I’m a total beginner, and am amazed at what I’ve accomplished–I hope to be taking classes with Effy for many more years. She is a great teacher, so supportive and encouraging, and seems like a very deep, fun, fully-live person.

I will be a Book of Days “lifer”, for as long as Effy offers this course and I have had so much F.U.N. learning a wealth of art journaling tips and techniques, since my first BOD in Jan 2012. Effy is the perfect blend of teacher & coach, always encouraging, offering detailed examples and explanations so that no one feels left out. She is also careful to explain that her lessons are meant to serve as a jumping off point for our own, unique expression. I also appreciate the importance she places on self-reflection and frequently encourages deep dives into self-dialogue. Thanks to Effy, I have made a place in my life for “creative necessity” through the regular practice of art journaling. And I am forever changed!

No matter who I may be following artistically I always, always circle back to Effy Wild. Her lessons bring me back home to myself. I bow to her process, her spirit and generosity.

Effy is everything I could ask for in an art teacher or course facilitator or friend. She exhibits an awesome and rare (these days) authenticity in her lessons, in her art practices, in communicating with her students and friends – Effy seems fearless in her self expression and sharing of herself and her art, for herself as well as for her tribe, her students her friends. Does this mean Effy is never afraid or anxious or avoidy? Hell no – it means that *even when* she is afraid or anxious or wary she shows up exactly as she is and speaks up about where she is at. There is no diluting of emotions or ‘hard stuff’ in her authenticity. Effy inspires and encourages me, creatively, personally, spiritually. Effy is Real in her Effyness, and is a pure treasure I am truly grateful to have found.

Effy is a gorgeous blessing as a teacher and as a human being. Life-sized, down-to-earth, totally heartfelt and lovely, her teaching style is very accessible and fun. Her courses are rich with content, so you can go as deep as you want to! I love her blend of practical advice with ideas for inspiration and exploration as well as how her materials are multi-faceted to allow for different approaches and bring out your own creative voice.

Effy Wild is a synthesizer. She is constantly learning herself, and whatever she learns, she adapts and makes her own, then she teaches it to her students in a completely new way. That is why I call her my mentor. She has taught me when to copy to practice a new technique and then how to adapt a technique to make it a part of my own style. It’s the perfect balance of imitation and experimentation, and all the while she is encouraging me to be true to myself. Plus, and this is really important to me, she has the best PDFs, bar none, of any online art teacher I’ve encountered. I can’t sing her praises loudly enough.

Effy Wild has something special that you find very rarely in our contemporary world : authenticity. If you want to be in contact more and more with your own self love and grow your self esteem, and doing it easily and joyfully, take an art class with Effy. Her classes are generous, rich, diversified and always interesting. You can be a beginner and you can be a professional artist (as I am) : you are guaranteed to learn about yourself through artistic practice. My journey with Effy (BOD, LifeBook, FacingForward…) has brought me much love and deep richness in my creative process.Nadia-Nadege.com
Lloydene Cook: I have loved every minute of this session, Effy , and have done every one of them. (It helps that I am retired, so I have plenty of time for art.) I am so inspired by your teaching style and your videos are great. Because of all this, I have also signed up for your earlier BOD sessions, Self Love and Sovereignty, and am doing them as well. Plus am signed up for the September session and Radiant Faces II. So, if that is not a glowing testimonial, I don’t know what is….lol. Thanks for all you artful inspiration.
Diana Schmidt: I enjoyed this session and mingling music with painting. Looking back to the first weeks, I can see growth in my skills as I became more comfortable with acrylics and mediums.
Phiona Jackson: This session was perfect for me – IS perfect for me. I adore music and combining it with my other favourite pastime makes such sense. I’ve created several paintings during Mixed Tape that I know I would never have done if I hadn’t done the session, and that would be a huge pity as there are 3 that are now among my all time favourite creations. Thank you for a great 12 weeks, Effy!
Jacqualine Hart: I thought the session was great! Enjoyed the mixing of music and art and would love to do it again or continue on my own with these theme. Also appreciate learning some new techniques and critiquing my own. Thought the 12 week legnth was fine – it gave me something to look forward to that was just for me (and the group). I’ll miss the weekly bed head diaries – these were AWESOME. Thank you Effy!
Carolyn Myles: The class really got me motivated to try some new things. If you’re feeling stuck with your journaling just think of a song and use it as a prompt! I’m recycling my original journal into a junk journal with a music theme. Rather tedious but worth it. I’ve gathered photos, art, ticket stubs etc to put in the junk journal. It will be awesome and unique. Thanks Effy!
Shinjini Mehrotra: This was my first ever BOD session – and boy! It beat my wildest expectations! I joined in late so I haven’t finished all the lessons yet, but the ones that I have, I’ve learnt so, so much! Effy, you’ve been an amazing teacher – appreciative, supportive, and willing to make suggestions to help us improve when we didn’t like our own work while still being positive, which is immensely valuable. I love the group – y’all are so supportive! – and the office hours and of course, the bed head diaries!! I look forward to more BOD sessions in the future!

I adore Effy. She has a way of teaching that is like a story. It has a definite beginning, middle and end. I appreciate the time she takes to make her classes into just what they are…a story. If you listen close, most of the time there is something other than art she is including in the lesson. And it is almost always something that is interesting and something to just think about. She has made me question a few of my own choices. I haven’t always changed my actions, but I always love to think about what she is saying. Her art is primal – very simple shapes and concepts that are easy to follow. Her color choices are bold, which shouldn’t be a surprise. If there is something that needs to be taught and she doesn’t know how to do it, she will search and find a way to learn it herself, then pass it on to her students. I would encourage anyone to take a class from Effy – if you are a new artist or a practiced one. You will always find something in her lessons to make you think, and usually to take out into the world and make it a better, kinder place.

Joining Effy Wild’s Book of Days class and community is the best present I’ve given myself in a very long time. Accessible and inspiring – these lessons have gotten me back on the page in great new ways – whether I have hours or mere minutes a day. Richest course material I’ve ever seen. Heck, the “boot camp” lessons that come as a bonus before you even dive into the program are worth the price of admission! But the thing I love the very best is the authentic, uncurated way Effy shares her process – encouraging and empowering me to develop and deepen my own personal journal practice.
Even more lovely words!
“Effy is so much more than just a teacher – she has opened my eyes to so many different truths through her journey & honesty. She’s like a spiritual life coach cheering us on – while going through so much blarg. She’s a breath of fresh air, a passionate Priestess and she makes me laugh” ~ Wendy Graham
“I think to many Effy is a mentor and a lighthouse in the sense that she shows people that the true person within is beautiful even if we ourselves don’t believe it. She shows how to free ourselves from our own self doubt and the vicious cycles we have been programmed with by publicly showing us her own liberation process. Effy is, in essence, a beautiful welcome sign to freedom through much work and self love.” ~ Epona Sidhe
This session has been an enjoyable challenge (still is as I’ve a few pages yet to do). It’s a scavenger’s hunt seeking out the poem that pings and asks to be included in art. Music might have been easier because so many songs come to mind, but poetry has been the “song” lately. As always, I found your wit and integrity engaging in the videos, especially the Bed Head Diaries when we get to hear how your week has been going. We can celebrate the good times and commiserate in the bad. It gives me a real sense of community. Thank you for all the good work you do. ~Dawn Zichko:
